Faucets and showerheads that have high flow rates are wasting a lot of water and energy. In larger commercial facilities like hospitals, schools, and large office buildings with large quantities of sinks and showers, this waste is quickly multiplied into costly water bills. The first step in reducing this waste is to evaluate your water usage by checking the flow rates of your aerators and showerheads. If you can’t figure out what the flow rate of your aerators and showerheads are, we have a simple method for finding out.

What is flow rate? Flow rate is the amount of water that runs through a faucet or shower when it’s in use. It is measured in gallons per minute, or GPM.
